Article from: OGEL 4 (2022), in Energy Transition
Executive summary
It is widely acknowledged that climate change is happening, and steps need to be taken to achieve a net-zero carbon global economy. To support the transition, the role of liquefied natural gas (LNG)/ gas in the global economy will need to grow, to support renewable power generation, displace carbon intensive coal and fuel-oils, and produce blue hydrogen. However, with the growing importance of LNG/ gas in the energy mix, the LNG/ gas industry needs to evolve, by focussing on the reduction of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and increasing environmental transparency.
