Abstract
On 14th July 2021, the European Commission presented one of its most comprehensive pieces of climate legislation: The Fit-for-55 package puts the targets of the European Green Deal into practice. It also implies wide-ranging reforms of the EU's key climate change instruments, the EU Emission Trading System (ETS): On the one hand, the ambition for emission reductions in the most energy-intensive sectors in the EU are raised to align with the EU reduction target in 2030 (-55% vs 1990).
