Abstract
Qatar with a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) capacity of 77 mtpa (million tonnes per annum) is the largest LNG exporter in the world, and one of the largest gas producers globally. It is astounding that this capacity was reached in a production period of only 14 years, when one considers that Qatar is a tiny state with an indigenous population today of about a quarter of a million people.
