Introduction
In connection with the ongoing dispute between Perenco and Ecuador, Perenco sent two letters on July 23. In the first letter, to Germánico Pinto, the Ecuadorian Minister of Mines and Petroleum, and Petroecuador's Executive President Rear Admiral Luis Jaramillo, Perenco asserts that it has not abandoned its oil fields in Ecuador: "we intend to continue to occupy the fields and provide maintenance and security for them until such time as the arbitral Tribunals in our respective ICSID cases terminate the Participation Contracts through lawful and orderly procedures." ...
