Summary
The use of the transmission grid has evolved significantly. Where it was once a means of achieving economies of scale and security of supply (by allowing regions of low generating capacity to be supported by regions of high generating capacity) it is now much more the facilitator of the energy market by offering open Third Party Access to all market players.
