New and Renewable Energy: An APEC Perspective for Sustainable Development

Introduction
This article briefly reviews past and current activities related to new and renewable energy technologies that have been carried out under the sponsorship of the APEC Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum was established in 1989 to promote trade liberalisation, trade facilitation and technical assistance among the major economic partners in the Asia Pacific region.
