Naomi Luhde-Thompson

Naomi is a PhD researcher at Birmingham Law School, where her research concerns the topical and contentious matter of the decision-making and governance of fracking in the UK in relation to sustainable development policy. Until September 2017, she led Friends of the Earth's land use planning work for over ten years, overseeing a wealth of planning cases, leading campaigns to tackle climate change through infrastructure development decisions, and on planning legislation and policy in both England and Wales. Prior to Friends of the Earth, she worked on European local government sustainable development policy at ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability in Freiburg, Germany. Naomi is a specialist in planning and energy matters, including renewable energy and fossil fuels in the UK and Europe. She has published on climate change and land use planning, and assessment and governance for sustainability.
