Profile
Bayo is qualified to practice law in Nigeria and has advised on energy projects in his present capacity as Partner and Head of Energy Group, Babalakin & Co, and previously as Legal Adviser/Company Secretary of a Bank. He has also been engaged in arbitration and general civil litigation practice in Nigeria. The firm is one of the largest commercial law firms in Nigeria with offices in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt and specializes in energy, foreign investment, project finance and international lending, civil litigation and arbitration.
He holds an LLB (University of Ife) and LLM (with distinction) CEPMLP. He is Fellow of the Energy Institute, UK, Fellow, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK as well as a Chartered Secretary and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, UK. He is in addition a member of Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, and also member of IBA's Section for Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources and Infrastructure. Bayo is also a Notary Public of Nigeria.
He has published articles in leading journals and has a chapter contribution in a book in areas relating to Energy, Project Finance and Arbitration, and is Energy Law columnist for ThisDay Newspapers, one of Nigeria's widest circulating Newspapers. Bayo has acted as an expert witness in a US court in respect of an ATCA initiated civil litigation.
