Call for papers: OGEL special issue on "Waste to Energy (WtE)"
29 February 2016
Update August 2016 the OGEL 3 (2016) - Waste to Energy (WtE) special has been published.
Oil, Gas and Energy Law Intelligence (www.ogel.org) invites submissions for a Special addressing Waste to Energy (WtE) or energy-from-waste (EfW). WtE, the process of generating energy in the form of electricity and/or heat from the primary treatment of waste, is becoming an increasingly important way to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, landfilling, reduce Greenhouse gas emissions, preserve imported fuels and grow the self-sufficiency of energy production on national level. The guest editors for this special issue are Kim Talus (UEF) and Topi Turunen (UEF).
We encourage submission of relevant papers, studies, and brief comments on various aspects of this subject. The focus of the Special Issue is largely dedicated to the question of national end-of-waste regulation for waste based fuels. The focus is also on the different benefits and challenges different waste stream can create in WtE operations. What new challenges arise and how can WtE contribute to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions, landfilling and dependency on foreign energy.
Materials relating to national, regional and international legal regimes affecting WtE projects are also encouraged. In addition, we welcome papers on the waste stream selection and collection of the waste streams in WtE operations.
