The Thomas Wälde PhD Scholarship in International Economic Law

(Source CEMPLP) - Professor Thomas W. Wälde died suddenly in October 2008 and his death robbed us of a memorable colleague, friend and intellectual leader. Over a thirty year period Professor Wälde established a global reputation in the field of international economic law, especially in relation to energy and natural resources. This reputation was founded not only on his professional experience and academic writings in this field, but also on his enthusiasm in and ability to inspire, train and educate the new generation of thinkers and professionals. Nowhere was this better exemplified than his success as Director in driving through a major expansion in size and scope at Dundee University’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy, which led to its current reputation as the premier institution in its field in the world.
