p>This report aims to raise some of the key policy issues that South American countries might need to address in order to foster gas-market development. Since the 1990s, substantial structural and macro economic reforms have contributed to the level of economic growth in South American countries and contributed to a rapid increase in regional energy demand. In most South American countries, energy demand grew faster than GDP.
